The 2024 TEAM AUSTRALIA is here!
WorldSkills Australia is excited to unveil the lineup for the 2024 Australian Team, set to represent the nation at the prestigious WorldSkills Lyon 2024, the 47thInternational Competition.
33 talented apprentices, trainees, and students known as the Skillaroos marks the largest group sent overseas by the organisation since Lyon's previous hosting in 1995. Notably, the WorldSkills Australia delegation, consisting of competitors, trainers, officials, and management, is the largest ever dispatched to an International Competition.
Anticipation mounts for the 47th International Competition, poised to be the grandest skills showdown yet, featuring over 1,500 Competitors from 75 countries across 59 diverse skill categories. The event, scheduled from September 10th to 15th, is expected to draw more than 250,000 attendees.
WorldSkills Australia's participation underscores its commitment to benchmarking Australian skills excellence against global standards. The selected Team Australia members exemplify the pinnacle of their respective fields, spanning disciplines such as Plumbing, Carpentry, Baking, Industry 4.0, Cyber Security, and Fashion Design.
The journey to selection has been a rigorous two-year process, commencing with Regional WorldSkills competitions in 2022 involving over 3,000 competitors. Following this, winners progressed to the National Championships in 2023, where medallists earned the honor of representing Team Australia in France.
Accompanied by their Expert mentors who have diligently overseen their training, each Skillaroo will proudly don the green and gold, bringing the total contingent to nearly 65 individuals.
